Proud to be a kiwi
Although the battle of passchendaele was one of mass life loss there was also some good that came from it. This was the rise of the ANZACs, and further more the Kiwis. This war and battle had a huge effect on the way New Zealand was, although it was done through a large life toll New Zealand were becoming more independent and proud. This battle is what made the new Zealand soldiers see themselves as something more then the English or Irish etc. that there fore fathers were, they began to see themselves as Kiwis. this in turn made the soldiers fight even harder as they had something to fight for. The proud to be kiwi attitude was then carried home hugely impacting the culture of new Zealand as we knew it significantly. |
